I’m Officially “That Crazy Lady With All the Dogs”

Tire Out Your Dog With a Nice, Long WalkAs if the looks of disbelief (bordering on horror in most cases) when we tell our friends and family that we got a third dog (and that he’s huge) aren’t enough, now all my neighbors think I’m nuts. And it’s not because we have bad dogs who bark all the time and terrorize people or anything like that. It’s because of what I did yesterday.

I walked all three dogs at the same time by myself. We were a dog juggernaut, I’m telling you. I had Ty on my left, Murphy on my right, and Pickles’ leash looped around my waist. It took a couple of minutes to perfect my technique, but once it occurred to me to just hold onto the end of the leash where it connects to the choke collar and loop the rest of it over my shoulders, we were golden.

The only challenging part arose when, about halfway through the walk, Murphy went on strike. I thought he had to pee, so I gave him some slack on the leash and let him go into the ditch on the side of the road. But no, he didn’t have have to go, he was just tired. He flopped down and no amount of cajoling would get him back on his feet. And since he’s ginormous, no way could I force him.

So Pickles and Ty and I flopped down with him (fortunately it was in the shade) and twiddled our thumbs until his highness noticed an appealing rock and got up to investigate, and which point I took off like a shot and tugged all three of them along behind me on a speed walk back to the house, just in case he decided to strike again.

We got home at 4, and after a few minutes of splashing around in the kiddie pool to cool off, all three of them crashed HARD and slept until 11, when I finally enticed them to wake up long enough to eat dinner before bedtime. It was the most productive evening I’ve had in ages!

So of course we went for a walk again, all three of us, first thing this morning. And guess who’s been sleeping ever since…

I might be the crazy lady with all the dogs, but I’ve found my secret weapon. ;]

I’ve got three dogs of each size, small, medium and large. I’ve thought about attempting to walk them all at once, I just don’t have the guts lol.

It’s tough, but so much fun. I need to get my husband to take a picture of me with them so I can show you how I do it. I don’t think my description quite does it justice. ;]
